November- In praise of Winter Squash!

November is prime time for winter squash and the harvest is under way! There are several varieties as you can see.  You can enjoy Acorn, Butternut, Hubbard, Kabocha, Turbin Top or Spaghetti squash, they are all grown locally in Northern California and can be kept for months with their thick hard shells.  You simply cut them in half or into pieces and bake them.  My current favorite is the Kabocha.  I've never tried the Turban Top, so this year is the first time I'll be trying it.

These photos are delightful. Who knew winter squash could be so attractive. And they're good for you on the inside, too. Thanks, Suzanne, for sharing.
