March- Did you know that artichokes are California’s Official Vegetable? Or that 99.99% of all commercially grown artichokes are grown in California? Artichokes are native to the Mediterranean area, and records show that artichokes were used as a food among the ancient Greeks and Romans. Today, artichoke cultivation is concentrated in the countries bordering the Mediterranean basin. The main European producers are Italy, Spain, and France. You can pick artichokes up in any farmers market right now. My web search for artichoke information led me to this recipe, which is almost the same as the recipe, my Italian mom made and now I make for my family! Enjoy the images I took of artichokes.  Buy some now and make this recipe!
