Apricots are in the same family as cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, prunes, and almonds. And they are in season now! Apricots originated in China and were cultivated in the Mediterranean before coming to California by Spanish missionaries in the late 1700’s.

California currently leads the nation in production, accounting for approximately 95% of the total U.S. production. Apricots are grown in San Joaquin and Sacramento Valley of California. The apricot a short growing season beginning in mid-May and extending through mid-August. Apricots are one of the best natural sources of Vitamin A, especially when dried.  I made this amazing wheat berry apricot salad.  I included a photo of it.  Let me know if you want the recipe! Enjoy the apricots while they last!
